Is the free AI detector really free?

Yes. Creating an account gives you 20,000 credits with no card required, and the free tier includes AI Scan, Grammar Check, the Humanizer and Dashboard Analytics. Credits are consumed by the words you check, so 20,000 credits is roughly a 20,000-word document or a semester's worth of essay spot-checks.

What is a credit, and how fast do they run out?

One credit covers one word of analysis. A typical 1,500-word college essay costs 1,500 credits, so the Starter plan at 180,000 credits a month covers about 120 essays. Scans that return an error are not charged.

Which AI models can GPTOne detect?

GPTOne is built to catch text from ChatGPT and GPT-4, Claude, Gemini, Grok, DeepSeek-V3 and R1, Llama, Mistral and Mixtral, and Qwen. Coverage across Claude and Gemini specifically is where most detectors fall down, and it is the reason GPTOne benchmarks ahead of tools that were only ever tuned on GPT output.

Do I need a paid plan to check long documents?

No. There is no per-scan word cap on any plan, including Free — a 20,000-word dissertation goes through in one pass. The plan only determines how many total words you can check per month.

What happens if a detector flags writing that is genuinely mine?

Every paid plan returns a sentence-level breakdown rather than a single percentage, so you can see exactly which passages triggered the score and why. This matters most for non-native English writers, whose more uniform sentence structure is the single most common cause of false positives across every AI detector.

Can I cancel or change plans?

Yes, at any time from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately and bill at the price shown on this page. Downgrades and cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep the credits you have already paid for.

Is there an API?

API access is included on Starter, Pro and Elite. If you need volume beyond the Elite tier, bulk classroom or newsroom workflows, or a custom rate limit, the Enterprise API section covers it.

What is the difference between monthly and yearly billing?

Yearly billing carries a deeper discount than monthly — the toggle above the plans shows both prices so you can compare before committing. Yearly plans grant the full annual credit allowance up front.
